Training: Develop Your Skills

Why do I offer this?
I am a certified trainer for adult education, recognised by Coatrain® coaching & personal training GmbH and have passed the trainer aptitude examination certified by the Association of German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. I feel at home in academia as well as business and like combining academic research findings with practical business insights. I started out leading seminars for marketing professionals in the areas of shopper marketing, buying decision-making and neuromarketing. Now I enjoy working with freelancers, entrepreneurs and business owners that have little or no formal marketing training but would like to incorporate marketing strategy into their business in order to develop and grow.

My seminar design "Marketing for Non-Marketers" aims to provide practical marketing knowledge on topics such as:
- Promotions: Which one’s Work for Which Business and Why
- Branding Excellence: Brands to Learn From
- To Buy or Not to Buy: How Buying-Decisions are Reached

Beside brand and business development, I am keen on training topics related to personal development. As I have mentioned in the intro, I believe that business development & personal development have quite a bit in common. Therefore training on coaching principles can be beneficial within business contexts as well as personal contexts. I like to think of it as wellness for the mind. My favourite topics include all things forming part of the puzzle of leading a prosperous life that one enjoys living.

My seminar designs on self-coaching techniques aim to provide practical guidance on personal development topics such as:

- Sustainable Habit Change: How to Make New Habits Stick

- Positive Cognitive Strategies: How to Switch on the Solution-Finder

- Embracing Imperfection: How to Overcome the Biggest Barriers to Innovation & Creativity

- Worrying as a Hobby: How to Find More Peace of Mind

- Wisdom from the Distance: How to Live Before we Die

- Identity 360 ̊: What Drives Our Behaviour? Insights into Motivations, Values, Personality Traits & Strengths

Testimonials

"Christin Mey is an exceptional woman and life skills trainer. I met Christin at a Philosopher's Cafe that I was facilitating and immediately thought that her knowledge and skills (and great energy) would benefit the postdocs and graduate students in our faculty. She proved me right. Her Identity 360 ̊workshop format is comprised of engaging activities and her friendly, comfortable and confident presence creates a safe environment and flow."

Dr. David Kaufman, University Professor, Faculty of Education, Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada

"Christin's Identity 360 ̊ workshop was interactive and fun! The time flew by as we were immersed in learning more about ourselves and interactions with others. This workshop is a great opportunity as a student to learn more about myself and how that influences my future career choices."

Hollis Owens,  Identity 360 ̊Workshop Participant, Faculty of Education, Postgraduate Programme,Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada

"Thank you, Christin for all I learned from your workshop. Your teaching is truly inspirational. You have a very calming way about your teaching, which made me think more about myself. Thank you so much for your kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity in putting together such a wonderful workshop. The entire workshop was memorable for me and I am grateful for having had the opportunity to participate with such a great group of friends."

Hamideh Sarmast, Identity 360 ̊Workshop Participant, Faculty of Education, Postgraduate Programme,Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada

"I participated in Christin's "Identity 360 ̊" workshop last Monday. It was fun and well-organized, and helped me understand my personality and strengths (…) and that every person is unique and has their own talents." Fan Zhang, Identity 360 ̊Workshop Participant, Faculty of Education, Postgraduate Programme, Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada

"I was invited to Christin's workshops through a recommendation, and am so glad I said 'yes'!  With her background in adult education, coaching and marketing, and also of travel and simply being open and curious about the world (and the people in it), she's a refreshing and courageous workshop leader.  She definitely brings a heartfelt energy and wisdom to what she teaches. I truly believe in the value of play and also of deeper introspection in my own work and life, and she brings both to these workshops in powerful combination.   I left not only with a-ha's, but with a lifted heart." Merrin Penney, Follow-The-Fun Workshop Series Participant, Vancouver, Canada

"Chris really teaches from the heart and with intelligence and humour. I'm looking forward to her next workshop."

Donna Morritt, Follow-The-Fun Workshop Series Participant, Vancouver, Canada

"I took the Sustainable Habits workshop with Christin last month and loved it! With her background in advertising, Christin is able to explain behaviour and change in a manner that is easy to understand and put into practice. I'm already on my way to creating a new habit in a way that will stick. I'm looking forward to the next 2 workshops!"

"Another great workshop with Chris! I love that she speaks with clarity and explains the science behind what our brains do. Each workshop has given me more tools to use in making changes to my life...and those chocolate covered strawberries are addictive!"
"Once again, I came away from Chris's workshop (on perfection) with more tools and insights. And speaking of insights, I noticed how Chris really pays attention to what people are saying and then offers them an insight to what they just said. She is highly intuitive and seems to always say the right thing to get us to think about where we are and where we want to be. A big thanks and hugs to Christin!"
Anne Montgomery, Follow-The-Fun Workshop Series Participant, Vancouver, Canada

"I took Christin’s workshop initially to lend my support to her in a new city. I knew I was facing some internal battles given the events of the last year but I didn’t realize how much of an impact this workshop would have on me.
Always one to have an open mind, I came along without any preconceived ideas of what I would hear and learn. Christin has a very subtle way of getting you to open up and share yourself with others. Kind of like an acupuncture needle… you know it’s going in but you don’t really feel it, then you realize its working deep inside you. I left the workshop with a deeper understanding of my own struggles and I’m now putting those tools offered to me to good use, it’s making my life and the life of those around me so much more peaceful."
Gary Daglish, Embracing Imperfection Workshop Participant, Vancouver, Canada

"An engaging workshop on the multi-faceted issues of Perfectionism, and some practical ideas for taming the helpful and often times, not so helpful critic in all of us."

Sharon Dinur, Embracing Imperfection Workshop Participant, Vancouver, Canada

"I much enjoyed participating in the session “Embracing Imperfection: Being Enough” and the insights I gathered. My outmost respect for your ability as a presenter. Your knowledge, intuition and approach to the subject matter made it easy for me to understand and recognize some of my own underlying beliefs. There are things I knew about myself, but didn't realize the interconnections. The Perfectionism vs Vulnerability chart was probably my most significant learning."

Tess Daglish, Embracing Imperfection Workshop Participant, Vancouver, Canada

"Christin Mey's workshop on sustainable habit change was fantastic! Chris brings such kindness, compassion, and knowledge to the subject, and perfectly blends scientific information with real-world, relatable examples. Learning about the science behind habits and behaviour removes a lot of the judgment and discouragement involved in making healthy positive changes. Christin's infectious enthusiasm made me feel optimistic and motivated to take control of my habits. I would highly recommend her workshops to anyone looking for guidance and support in their self-improvement journey!"

Joline Baylis, Sustainable Habit Change Workshop Participant, Vancouver, Canada

"Christin’s Sustainable Habit Change Workshop left me feeling confident that habit change is truly possible. The informative portion of the evening was a perfect match to help me understand and implement the new strategies and tools that Christin taught us.  She was also able to create a wonderful group experience amongst many different individuals. This is hands down one of the most useful and interesting workshops I have taken in a very long time."

Erin Cedeberg, Sustainable Habit Change Workshop Participant, Vancouver, Canada

"I was really fortunate to attend Chris' event last night! What a wonderful heartfelt woman! She is SO lovely and genuine. She masters what she does and she is so enthusiast to share her knowledge with everyone so she can empower them. You are a wonderful human being, Chris and thank you for being you! Thank you for sharing what you do, so people can just improve and get better."

Jocelyne Levesque, Sustainable Habit Change Workshop Participant, Vancouver, Canada

"Christin’s dynamic attitude and the fact that she is well travelled was what first attracted me to her personal development courses.  In her workshop on “Sustainable Habit Change” she demonstrated how “old dogs can learn new tricks” by explaining how habit change works neurologically and providing hands-on strategies on how to use this knowledge to our advantage."

Peter J. Kletas, Sustainable Habit Change Workshop Participant, Vancouver, Canada

"Thank you, Chris for a wonderful and interesting evening! I enjoyed learning about changing and creating new habits so very much. For anyone who has been thinking about making lasting changes, I highly recommend Chris´s fun filled workshop."

Jen Mauritz, Sustainable Habit Change Workshop Participant, Vancouver, Canada

"I took the course "Find the key to changing your habits" and it was fantastic. Christin made me feel at home with a beautiful setup at the venue and a warm welcome to all participants. From the first second on, I felt comfortable to share my habits and thoughts with the group. Christin has an outrageously vast understanding of neurological processes and behavioural patterns and combines this knowledge with her hands-on experiences and real life examples. At the end of the course, I had a perfect understanding of habits and a complete tool kit to work on them. Thank you so much for making me better! I'm looking forward to the next workshops..."

Jan Unger, Sustainable Habit Change Workshop Participant, Vancouver, Canada

"Christin has a unique style that you won’t find anywhere else. Her training is fun, innovative, well researched and highly informative, allowing participants to enjoy the process whilst developing skills and a new mind-set. For me the benefit of attending the various self-coaching training sessions has been the tools I now have, which allow me to consider everyday life’s challenges from a different perspective. Each session was in-depth and interesting with a great deal of positive interaction and input across all members of the group. Using the tools I learnt from Christin, I now approach issues with a more positive and solution focused attitude. I particularly enjoyed the games and cue cards Christin used to encourage and support the learning experience. This is something I previously thought I wouldn’t enjoy or find useful. How wrong can you be! Christin’s ability to bring such a diverse range of people together whilst ensuring that we each learnt, interacted and got the most out of each session, is a real testament to her unique style and professional expertise. The lessons learnt from this training, have continued to be translated into my everyday life and I was very sorry that I was unable to attend each and every session available, as that would have benefited me even more. As a result of this initial experience with Christin's work, we consequently booked her as a facilitator for a workshop in which we reached our goal with focus and ease thanks to her support. Thank you, Christin."

Adrienne Steele, Follow-The-Fun Workshop Series Participant, Kerikeri, New Zealand

"Three more people have literally just asked to join my business so this is thanks to you for making me eat breath and live positivity and others are now drawn to it. This course has totally changed my outlook on life!!! I was stuck in a place, my comfort zone and perfectionism was holding me back, but I didn't realise how much until you made it clear! Since being able to step outside of that comfort zone with the mental tools you provided me with, I've accomplished more in the last 6 weeks than I ever thought possible and realised that trying to be perfect in everything I do just doesn't get anything done! My tasks are now organised and occasionally methodically thought out but are not perfect but each time get better and better through practice and trying! I'm so grateful for this freedom you've allowed me to see I have and now there's no stopping me…I have goals and visions which I've never ever done before in my life. It’s so exciting!!!"

Nichola Glover, Follow-The-Fun Workshop Series Participant, Kerikeri, New Zealand

"Well where do I start?. I signed up as I enjoy progressing myself and always love to learn. But rarely find the time. This has given me so many tools. To create precious time with family. To reach out from my comfort zone. Also to understand others and how people deal with things differently. Christin does all of this with passion and fun. And creates a safe place so you feel able to share personal difficulties. It's been an amazing journey and I've got so much more out of it than I thought I would! Now I need to keep putting things into practice.  Thank you."

Rachael Elliott-Jones, Follow-The-Fun Workshop Series Participant, Kerikeri, New Zealand

"The training course run by Christin has been amazing. Christin is a fabulous trainer and I love her use of props and analogies to convey an idea. I especially benefited from how Christin used her marketing background to explain how behavioural change and decision-making works on a neurological level, which gave us another perspective on how to look at ideas and concepts used in the context of personal development. I personally have gotten a lot out of the course and Christin’s kind and fun-loving nature make the sessions fun. I would highly recommend Christin."

Tracey Mackay, Follow-The-Fun Workshop Series Participant, Kerikeri, New Zealand

"There is no doubt, Chrissie not only has a great passion for her subject but also a unique ability to explain complex subjects and concepts in a manner that is clear, concise and above all fun. Chrissie's teaching is well researched and has not only been enlightening for me at a personal level but has also proved to be useful in my professional life as a doctor. I wasn't sure what to expect especially being the only male in the group. I needn't have worried because Chrissie has a gift for breaking the ice and making people feel at ease with themselves and with each other leading to a richer experience for all. I have thoroughly enjoyed Chrissie's teaching, encouragement and above all her enthusiasm and my only regret is that due to work commitments I was not able to attend all the sessions. Chrissie has a great talent and I, for one, am very glad that she is willing to share it."

Dr. Tony Steele, Follow-The-Fun Workshop Series Participant, Kerikeri, New Zealand

"Christin is a one of a kind strategist, trainer and coach who has such an ability to connect. I've loved the way she transcends the layers between "the tough stuff" and having some fun to bring valuable training principles to life. At her live training, she equips you with new tools to consider your situation/s, plenty of delicious nibbles and interactive activities that cause you consolidate powerful strategies in an engaging way. Christin weaves her dynamic coaching from a wide source of publications in such a manner that those from all walks of life can connect to. Something I have particularly valued is her positive nature, and the way that she truly listens so that the training she provides is tailored to your needs as best as possible."

Annie Edwards, Follow-The-Fun Workshop Series Participant, Kerikeri, New Zealand

"As a local business owner, I was impressed with Christin's skills and wanted to make sure our community would benefit from her extensive knowledge base within the realm of business development as well as personal development during her stay in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. For this reason, I decided to publicly endorse her work and used my reach through my business client base to generate interest for her courses. For this, Christin gave me more credit than I felt necessary as her classes would have taken off without me, and I'm only sorry that I didn't get the opportunity to attend her entire workshop series. Now that Christin has moved to Canada, I miss our chats in the spa… You are an incredibly talented & inspirational woman, Chrissie!"

Karen Sullivan, Follow-The-Fun Workshop Series Participant, Kerikeri, New Zealand

"Sometimes you come across people in your life that you think are kind of special…and you are one of those people. (…) You are a beautiful, warm, strong, inspiring, expressive and inspirational person. So thank you for just being you! You have challenged us to change ourselves in a very good way!"

Jody Galbraith, Follow-The-Fun Workshop Series Participant, Kerikeri, New Zealand

"I really enjoyed Christin's Self-Coaching Training. She was not only a delight to listen to, but she was very knowledgeable on all the subjects covered. She has a genuine interest and concern for her students. She encourages people to think outside the box and really get in tune with how they are going to proceed and change things with the tools that they have learned in class. She wants people to succeed and so she wants to hear specifics of how they will tackle the task at hand, which I totally appreciate. The game plan is in place, which encourages success. She is very passionate about what she does which makes the classes not only engaging, but motivating!" Kim Meske, Follow-The-Fun Workshop Series Participant, Kerikeri, New Zealand

"I have thoroughly enjoyed the 2 sessions that I have attended and now I am very sorry that I didn’t sign up in the beginning for the full course. It has made me think about what I do, why and how, and am conscious of the ways I can improve. It has also helped me understand why others do things the way they do. An excellent course motivating me to make changes."

Anne Hope, Follow-The-Fun Workshop Series Participant, Kerikeri, New Zealand

"The course has made a positive difference to me and my family – so thank you. I find myself saying to follow the fun and hope you don’t mind if I also use this statement to improve the quality of my life."

Solvej Poulsen, Follow-the-Fun Self-Coaching Training Participant, Kerikeri, New Zealand

"Christin is extremely bright and witty, as well as caring and empathic. As a trainer, she possesses undeniable presence and enthusiasm and she has supported me with all her heart. Her teaching style is extremely flexible, invariably producing exactly the right method at the right time. She has helped me develop a keen awareness of things that I had been unconscious of prior to our time together. I especially valued that Christin was willing to share her own experiences candidly, thereby fostering and maintaining an atmosphere of trust – and she made sure that there was always room for laughter and genuine fun, despite the fact that we dealt with serious topics. Working with Christin never felt like work. It has filled me with inspiration and enriched my everyday life with new awareness, and plenty of new thoughts."
